STUDENTS OF IAIN PALU WON THE SHORT STORY WRITING COMPETITION AND BECAME PIAUD FAVORITE AMBASSADOR OF INDONESIA

Palu, 26/3 - Student of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Palu, Central Sulawesi, won first prize in short story competition and favorite ambassador champion National level Early Childhood Education (PIAUD) Study Program.

The two students are Huzaimah and Istiana Makarau. Both of them are fourth semester students at Tarbiyah Faculty and Teacher Training in Early Childhood Islamic Education Study Program.

"Alhamdulillah, thanks to the persistence and high enthusiasm for participating in the activities of the Indonesian PIAUD Student Association (IKMPISI). So that we can participate in several competitions nationally and produce very good results," said Head of the IAIN PIAUD Palu Program Dr Marwani, Tuesday.

Huzaimah and Istiana were participants of the Second National Meeting of the PIAUD Student Association of the Indonesian Islamic Religious Colleges in Indonesia, at the State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Jogjakarta, which was held from 25 - 28 March 2019.

The organizing committee of the meeting, coupled activities with several competitions, including short stories and contests of PIAUD ambassadors who were joined by all PTKIN representatives throughout Indonesia.

Through this activity, Huzaimah and Istiana Makarau demonstrated their potential. They showed their potential, and proved to be able to surpass other representatives of PTKIN.

"This is a proud achievement, and brings the good name of the Palu IAIN institution at the PTKIN level throughout Indonesia," said Marwani.

The wife of the Deputy Regent of Morowali said that the achievements achieved were inseparable from the support of the institution and the leadership as well as several lecturers, who participated to contribute so that the two female students could leave for Jogja.

"Initially, only one person could leave. But thanks to the struggle, we could leave four students with donations. They contributed greatly to the institution and leadership of the IAIN Palu," said Marwani.

He hopes that the achievements carved by Huzaimah and Istiana can be demonstrated by students, especially in PIAUD Study Programs.

"We hope that our students, especially PIAUD students, will be more enthusiastic to continue to hone their potential for achievement. Always increase their creativity and innovations," he said.

He believes that the leadership will continue to support students if they participate in activities on a local or national scale.

IAIN Palu Rector Prof. Sagaf S Pettalongi MPd expressed his appreciation to Huzaimah and Istiana for the national level achievements.

"Congratulations to Huzaimah and Istiana. This is an extraordinary achievement, a proud achievement for IAIN Palu," said Prof. Sagaf Pettalongi.

The Rector claimed being touched, because his students were able to make achievements at the national level, even though the campus where Huzaimah and Istiana were studying was devastated by the tsunami on Friday 28 September 2018.

The Chair of IAIN Palu Quality Assurance Agency Dr. Askar Ahmad assessed that the achievements of Huzaimah and Istiana were a reflection of the quality, and competitiveness of IAIN Palu.

"This shows that the Palu IAIN is increasingly showing the existence of efforts to improve the quality that has been carried out by the academic community of IAIN Palu from year to year," said Askar Ahmad. *
