IAIN PALU STRIVES TO IMPROVE THE COMPETENCE OF THE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Palu, 6/9 (IAIN Palu Public Relations) - State Islamic Religion Institute (IAIN) Palu, Central Sulawesi strives to increase undergraduate students competence equal to scientific discipline or departmental specifications.

"In the future there needs to be a format for developing student competencies in all departments in each faculty." said the Chancellor of IAIN Palu Prof. Dr. H. Sagaf S Pettalongi, M.Pd.

Prof. Sagaf Pettalongi gave an example of the department of aqidah philosophy, the interpretation of hadith and the Qur'an and the knowledge of the Qur'an and hadith are departments that have theoretical and variable scientific specifications.

Therefore, he said, the development of student competence must be in accordance with scientific disciplines. For example, the department of Qur'anic interpretation and hadith, must carry out the practice of field experience at the Qur'an study center of Quraish Shihab.

"So that students in the department will further explore and improve knowledge, practice the theory that has been studied," said Prof. Sagaf.

One of the standards for assessing student competence is the practice of field experience (PPL), he said, in the future there must be a specification of the implementation of PPL in accordance with student's competence.

The Education Management Expert said that students will be faced with various dynamics and problems in social life, government, politics, economics and so on, after graduation.

This continues to make universities active in fostering and developing student competence. So that IAIN Palu scholars can compete with other scholars.
