IAIN INTRODUCED MODERATE ISLAM TO PBAK PARTICIPANTS

Palu, 27/8 (IAIN Palu Public Relations) - State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Palu, Central Sulawesi, introduced and instilled moderate Islamic understanding to around 1,720 new students.

"One of the missions of  IAIN Palu is to instill students' understanding of moderate Islam," said Rector of IAIN Palu Prof. Dr. H. Sagaf S Pettalongi, M.Pd in Palu, Monday.

The introduction and planting of an understanding of moderate Islam was carried out through the Introduction to Campus Academic Culture (PBAK), Monday 27/8, which lasted until 30/8.

Prof. Sagaf Pettalongi said, one method to introduce moderate Islam is to provide an understanding of the basics of Islam and the unity of God, and to provide an understanding of various ideas and opinions in Islam.

IAIN Palu, said the Education Management Expert, also instilled and cultivated the nationalism of PBAK participants, which was expected to have impact on their love for the Republic of Indonesia.

"One of the things that must be carried out by the Palu IAIN is to provide an understanding of the ideology of Pancasilan, diversity, and to foster student love for the Republic of Indonesia," said Sagaf Pettalongi.

He argued that learning at the tertiary level was different from what was experienced by participants at the senior high school level.

One of the differences is that, he explained, the learning method is directed at student independence, and refers to the academic guidelines available at IAIN Palu.

"Therefore if a student is not active, it will have an impact on the lecture process and the completion of his studies" said Sagaf.

In the college he leads there are special rules that must be obeyed by each student.

Approximately 1,720 new students attended the Campus Academic Recognition that raised the theme of building quality young intellectuals who were competitive in the study of moderate Islam.
