Palu, 19/9 (IAIN Palu Public Relations) - The 18th International Conference, Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS) produced five recommendation points.

AICIS which is an academic forum of state Islamic religious colleges and foreign academics is focused on discussing radicalism. Five points of the AICIS recommendation, first, there is a need to review some old perspectives in Islamic studies and their communities.

Second, the latest perspective on Islamic studies needs to look back at the historical roots in building moderate Islamic models such as those in Indonesia and Southeast Asian countries. Three, intolerance is currently manifested in various forms that are influenced by many factors, both ideological factors and other instruments that all require a response and a continued strategy. So that co-existence is needed to build tolerance and peace through various relevant programs and actions.

Fourth, a significant understanding of radicalism among young people will give birth to the possibility of integrated strategies and solutions and comprehensive steps to break the chain of radicalism and terrorism.

Fifth, in addition to ideological approaches and deradicalization programs, steps in the economic, cultural and social approaches must be taken immediately to erode the influence of radicalism and terrorism.

AICIS wass held in Palu, Central Sulawesi starting on 17-20 September 2018, with the theme of Islam in a globalizing word: text, knowledge and practice.
