IAIN Palu Academic Community Wear Sarong at Santri Day Ceremony

All components of the academic community at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Palu, Central Sulawesi, wear saroong when attending the 2019 National Santri Day commemoration ceremony, in the campus, Tuesday.

Commemoration Ceremony of National Santri Day at IAIN Palu, led by Rector Prof. Dr. H. Sagaf S Pettalongi M.Pd, wearing a red sarong, a white shirt and a skullcap / black cap.

The ceremony was attended by lecturers, administrative staff (civil servants / contracts), students who all wore sarong and black skullcap (for men).

"Santri has proven its role and role in maintaining the integrity of the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia," said Prof. Dr. H Sagaf S Pettalongi MPd, in Palu, Tuesday.

The national santri day in 2019 brought the theme "Indonesian Santri for World Peace".

Prof. Sagaf Pettalongi when reading the remarks of the Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion, Nur Kholis Setiawan, said the issue of peace was raised based on the fact that the pesantren was actually a peace laboratory.

As a peace laboratory, pesantren is a place for seeding Islamic teachings rahmatanlilalamin, Islam is friendly and moderate in religion.

Prof. Sagaf Pettalongi also read that, there are nine reasons and the pesantren's basis deserves to be called a peace laboratory.

First, pesantren have an awareness of religious and national harmony. Second, the method of studying in pesantren is applied to the openness of studies originating from various books, even to cross-sectional studies.

Third, at the pesantren, students are usually taught for khidmah (devotion), which is the spirit and principle of santri loyalty. Fourth, at the pesantren, self-reliance education, cooperation and mutual assistance are taught among students.

Fifth, community movements such as arts and literature flourish in pesantren. Sixth, in the pesantren there are various discussion groups on small and large scale to discuss trivial to serious matters.

Seventh, at the pesantren, are taught to care for the treasures of local wisdom. Then, eighth, students have the principle of maslahat (public interest) is a handle that is not negotiable by the pesantren.

Finally, at the pesantren, spiritual cultivation is applied. It is not only a matter of Islamic law (fiqh) that is explored.

The 2019 National Santri Day commemoration ceremony at IAIN Palu is not much different from other national ceremonies. The raising of the Indonesian flag was followed by public respect, reading the Pancasila text, the 1945 Constitution, and singing the national anthem Indonesia Raya. Also coupled with singing the National Santri Day song.
